HOW TO LIGHT LUMP CHARCOAL

Lighting lump charcoal. It’s time to cook, you have the grill setup in your favorite location and a fresh bag of Parkers Mountain Pure Charcoal Chunks ready to open, now how do you get the charcoal lit?

There are many options to lighting lump charcoal, below are a few we recommend you use.

Using crumpled newspaper:

Start by crumpling up 4-5 sheets of newspaper and stacking them on the bottom grate of your grill, creating a pyramid shape.

Loosely stack the charcoal lumps, creating a triangular pyramid shape on top of the newspaper, 3-4 handfuls are a good starting point. Repeat until the desired amount of charcoal is added to the grill.

Ignite the paper. Wait 10-15 minutes or until all coals are red.

Spread out the coals across the bottom of the grill. You are ready to cook.

Using a chimney starter:

Add a few sheets of newspaper under a chimney starter.

Add 3-4 handfuls of lump charcoal inside of the starter, or until full.

Ignite the paper and allow the flames to work their way up the starter, continuing until all coals are glowing red.

Carefully dump the charcoal into your grill and spread evenly.

Chemical starters (Fluids or Cubes):

Place 3-4 handfuls of lump charcoal in the bottom of your grill, creating a pyramid shape.

Following the charcoal starter fluid manufacturers provided instructions, apply as needed.

Light the charcoal lighter and wait for the coals to turn red. There may be a required burn off period, please refer to the fluid manufacturer.
